3. Expand the reach of Hong Kong companies into emerging markets
   
 

Global competition and protectionist issues in some of our core markets have prompted TDC to explore new regions and customers for the promotion of Hong Kong products and services.

   
 
Activity outline:
Market-specific studies on the potential for Hong Kong's traders in the Middle East (especially Dubai), Eastern Europe (especially the EU candidate countries) and Southeast Asia.
Targeted distribution of these emerging market research materials, and other promotional materials, to Hong Kong companies.
Exploratory business missions, in partnership with relevant trade representatives and associations, to India, Vietnam and Thailand.
Workshops and seminars to promote emerging markets and encourage Hong Kong SMEs to develop market-specific, tailored brands.
A Hong Kong Week promotion during autumn 2004 or early 2005 in Dubai.
Development of market specific on and offline marketing collaterals using local languages where appropriate, including multilingual introductory pages in tdctrade.com.
Trade promotion activities in markets such as Russia and the EU candidate countries to raise the profile of Hong Kong products.
Expansion of TDC's presence in the Moscow International Fair of Consumer Goods and other leading Russian specialist exhibitions.
Inward buying missions and journalist visits from emerging markets.
Expansion and enhancement of our outreach programme in emerging markets through local TDC offices.
