5. Augment Hong Kong SMEs' competitiveness through e-commerce

The impact of the travel advisory against Hong Kong during the outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (Sars) in early 2003 deterred business travellers and forced many Hong Kong companies to turn increasingly to the internet as a way of maintaining and developing business contacts.

In 2003, tdctrade.com was voted the best trade promotion website in Asia. We aim to continue to improve on our online facilities, allowing 24-hour access around the world to core TDC services, and to encourage Hong Kong companies to develop competitive internet and e-commerce business systems.
