Strategies and major new initiatives

Empower SMEs and entrepreneurs to better utilise the Hong Kong platform for global business

  • Launch the SME Transformation Sandbox Programme to help SMEs enhance their competitiveness and achieve specific business transformational goals

  • Offer “Free-trial” online package to help start-ups expand their network of buyers, investors and partners via the “hktdc.com Sourcing” platform

  • Mount new zones including 5G compatible gadgets to address the latest technology trends at the Hong Kong Electronics Fairs

  • Solicit participation from software developers for online and mobile games at the Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair

  • Expand IT Solutions for Jewellery Zone in the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show and IT Solutions & Shop Fittings Zone in the Hong Kong International Optical Fair

  • Elevate the profile of our start-up zones in technology fairs by working with start-up multipliers in Japan, Korea and Israel in the recruitment with tailored participation packages

  • Leverage provincial and city governments to secure sponsorship and funding for their SMEs to participate in HKTDC trade events

  • Enhance the Young Executive Programme to create more networking opportunities with local young entrepreneurs / start-ups

  • Encourage all Hong Kong Business Associations to set up youth chapters



Gear up Hong Kong SMEs to embrace the digital economy

  • Strengthen our strategic partnership with major technology partners to provide more cost-effective digital solutions for Hong Kong SMEs

  • Provide on-site business advisory and consultancy services at the Asian E-tailing Summit

  • Conduct consumer surveys in ASEAN markets to understand the consumption patterns and share the findings with chambers, trade associations and SMEs

  • Connect Hong Kong SMEs with O2O platforms in ASEAN, such as bringing Hong Kong branded products to Indonesian local retail outlets, Ataru, and its online platform, Ruparupa

  • Organise seminars and networking events to help Hong Kong SMEs devise sector-specific strategy for targeted mature markets through online platforms

  • Leverage AI natural language processing (NLP) technology to effectively filter unauthentic enquiries on “hktdc.com Sourcing” platform for enhanced user experience and business matching

  • Explore a closed-loop dialogue-based messaging service on the HKTDC Marketplace App to connect buyers and suppliers through their mobile devices

  • Conduct in-depth export marketing research for Hong Kong’s backbone manufacturing sectors

  • Upgrade and renovate SME Centre with enhanced services

  • Support the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau’s plan to create coordinated SME support services

  • Encourage exhibitors of our public fairs to accept e-payment

Establish Hong Kong as Asia's start-up hub

  • Engage Start-up Express winners to establish stronger business collaboration with members of the HK Startup Society

  • Launch a new programme entitled Enterprise Connect at Entrepreneur Day for start-ups to present their business solutions to enterprises

  • Launch a “Voice of Start-up” marketing campaign to publicise Hong Kong start-up success stories and their brands

  • Bring international start-up delegations and events to Hong Kong

  • Organise capacity building activities and promotional events for fashion start-ups in collaboration with industry stakeholders

  • Arrange a start-up mission, riding on Think Asia, Think Hong Kong, to help start-ups tap into new markets and solicit funding

  • Arrange “Smart+ pitching and business matching services” at SmartHK Chengdu to help Hong Kong start-ups identify funding, partners and business connections in Mainland China

  • Organise a fintech mission to ASEAN to raise Hong Kong’s profile

  • Organise “FintechHK Start-up Salon” at Asian Financial Forum in collaboration with the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau and InvestHK
