Cement Hong Kong as a global investment and business hub riding on Belt and Road and Greater Bay Area opportunities

Supported by our network of 50 offices worldwide, we will continue to work to cement Hong Kong as an investment and business hub globally. An important part of this is to establish Hong Kong as the commercial hub of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Champion Hong Kong’s role in building global connectivity

  • Launch a ‘GBA-Track’ to enrich the GBA component at the Belt and Road Summit

  • Showcase Hong Kong’s edge in connecting GBA with global business communities in Think Asia, Think Hong Kong, Milan and Madrid

  • Organise a dedicated session on GBA at Asian Financial Forum and a side trip to GBA cities focusing on fintech and innovative technologies

  • Organise sectoral promotion missions to GBA cities such as Foshan for the legal professional, Huizhou for the Infrastructure and Real Estate-related Services (IRES) sector and Jiangmen and Zhongshan for the creative industry
  • Target emerging markets such as Africa and Latin America to further reinforce the internationality of the Belt and Road Summit

  • Establish new Hong Kong Business Associations in Belt and Road markets

  • Invite relevant Hong Kong Business Associations to join as Belt and Road Global Forum members and encourage joint Belt and Road promotions in respective markets

  • Establish a new Belt and Road and GBA Committee with thematic task forces on Industrial Parks; Smart City and Digital Connectivity; and Start-ups

  • Rename Asian Logistics and Maritime Conference as Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference (ALMAC) to highlight Hong Kong’s key role as an international aviation hub

  • Launch Market Clinic at ALMAC and invite ASEAN logistics representatives to share insights and provide advisory services on their local regulations and policies

Fortify Hong Kong as the international trade fair and conference capital leveraging HKTDC’s conferences and exhibitions

  • Invite experts and thought leaders to share on topical themes including cyber security and payment technology at Asian Financial Forum

  • Introduce InnoTalks series featuring topics such as truck platooning and hyperloop technology at ALMAC

  • Invite industry pioneers to discuss the trend of new media licensing and innovative use of content IPs created in social media at Asian Licensing Conference

  • Host digital marketing workshops and discuss the role of technology in experience marketing and entertainment marketing at MarketingPulse

  • Organise a satellite version of MarketingPulse in Tokyo to drive Asian participation

  • Explore strategic alliances with selected overseas event organisers to enrich the internationality and content of our fairs

  • Launch digital offerings in our exhibitions with new sourcing features for on-site buyers

  • Expand exhibitor recruitment and sales agency network in ASEAN and GBA

  • Adopt the ConfEx model for selected exhibitions to enrich the offerings and bring in new types of participants

  • Further integrate International ICT Expo and Internet Economy Summit to deliver greater impact and synergies around the smart city theme

Enrich the “City Brand” of Hong Kong leveraging its strengths in innovation, technology and creativity

  • Strengthen Hong Kong’s position as Asia’s intellectual property (IP) hub by launching an IP specialist directory on AsiaIPEX and enhancing Business of IP Asia Forum’s profile in ASEAN and Mainland China

  • Assist Hong Kong businesses to make inroads into specialised technology sectors by strengthening strategic partnership with major technology partners

  • Expand the Biotechnology Zone and Rehabilitation and Elderly Care Zone at the Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Fair to tap the booming wellness and silver markets

  • Launch a publicity campaign featuring Hong Kong technology and start-ups to maximise their exposure in international technology events

  • Partner with Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) to establish a stronger Hong Kong start-up presence at CES Eureka Park, US

  • Establish a stronger presence at the Mobile World Congress with an expanded Hong Kong Pavilion featuring as a stop of the event’s thematic Topic Tours

  • Form a strategic partnership with Catalonia Trade and Investment, Spain to provide business matching for our exhibitors at the Mobile World Congress

  • Co-organise a sector-specific Hong Kong Creativity in Business business mission with local design associations to Mainland China

  • Collaborate with partners and institutions to organise STEAM- related events in DesignInspire

  • Position CENTRESTAGE as Asia’s innovative and creative brand-building and lifestyle platform for fashion brands and designers
