Introduction
Introduction
This Annual Plan is the first in a new three-year planning cycle, a blueprint that will take the HKTDC to 2017. The overarching objectives for the next three years from 2014/15 to 2016/17 are to:
(i) |
help Hong Kong companies capitalise on business opportunities arising from the new global economic order; |
|
|
(ii) |
promote Hong Kong as Asia's global business platform; and |
|
|
(iii) |
enhance the competitiveness of Hong Kong SMEs and start-ups in the digital era.
|
A set of measurements has been set against which we will evaluate our success in achieving these objectives.
With the mature markets finally showing signs of a more sustainable recovery and the emerging markets seeing a more moderate though still robust pace of growth, HKTDC's focus in the coming three years is to assist Hong Kong companies to adjust to the new global economic order and leverage on opportunities arising from a general revival of the world economy.
Building on the success of the past three years, we will work to solidify Hong Kong's role as the premier two-way platform for mainland enterprises' outbound ventures as well as overseas companies' penetration of the mainland market. To further promote Hong Kong as Asia's global business hub, our priority for the next three years is to help Hong Kong SMEs expand into South and Southeast Asia. We will also continue our efforts in helping Hong Kong exporters capture opportunities in the promising emerging markets and enhance our profile in the traditional markets to help Hong Kong SMEs take advantage of the recovery in mature markets in the coming years.
Promotion of services, targeting particularly the mainland and ASEAN markets, will remain a priority. We will step up collaboration with the Hong Kong family to achieve the greatest synergy for both our local anchor events and overseas signature campaigns. In view of the growing popularity of online shopping, we will develop a B2B online transactional platform to connect exporters and overseas buyers. We will also leverage the social media to extend our reach to the younger generation of SMEs and the community at large.
Recovery in the world economy is expected to start in 2014 although the journey will be gradual and uneven. The HKTDC will work hand-in-hand with the government and our partners to help our companies leverage on markets offering the most potential for our manufacturers and service providers.
