Strategies and major new initiatives

Fortify Hong Kong as the international trade fair and conference capital by transforming HKTDC events into technology-driven, thought-leading happenings

  • Incorporate virtual elements into our physical exhibitions and introduce a hybrid O2O model to meet industry demands

  • Explore launching a 5G/Future Living zone at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) featuring cutting-edge 5G products and solutions

  • Engage new generation biotechnology companies in Biotechnology zone; and set up a thematic showcase of local, pandemic-related innovations and Hong Kong’s research capabilities in biotechnology and medical technologies at the Medical and Healthcare Fair

  • Further integrate the International ICT Expo and Internet Economy Summit, and work with city governments to deliver greater impact and synergy around the smart city theme
  • Expand Fashion Tech zone at Hong Kong Fashion Week to feature more IT applications such as cloud-based production management system, digital measuring equipment, 3D body scanning and wearable tech for the fashion industry

  • Provide virtual participation through live-streaming at all international conferences to expand the events’ reach and participant base

  • Transform the overseas roadshow series of FILMART to a year-round digital campaign to extend its reach to industry executives around the world; and complement the physical Market with FILMART Online to connect exhibitors with global buyers during and beyond the physical event

  • Rebrand Entertainment Asia Forum to EntertainmentPulse and link it with MarketingPulse and Asian E-tailing Summit held concurrently with FILMART, and grow them into Asia’s leading one-stop creativity-related events

  • Re-position Hong Kong International Licensing Show and Asian Licensing Conference to seize the growing opportunities in lifestyle licensing and co-locate the events with Gifts and Premium Fair

  • Launch Licensing Academy, a series of online and offline professional training workshops related to legal and IP issues of licensing and implementation, and hold the final module at Asian Licensing Conference

  • Strengthen the Asian Financial Forum (AFF) as a platform for fostering thought-leadership and showcasing innovation, especially in areas such as ESG (environment, social and governance) and fintech

  • Curate shipper-oriented programme and organise one-on-one “Meet the Expert” sessions at Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference (ALMAC) focused on know-how to develop an agile and digitalised supply chain under the new normal

  • Adopt smart event technologies to enhance visitor experience at our events

  • Organise workshops to gear up exhibitors’ marketing skills for exhibitions in a hybrid mode

  • Refine “Click2Match”, a new AI-enabled business matching platform, to provide more targeted matching for both buyers and exhibitors



Reinvigorate Hong Kong’s role as a global deal maker

  • Form a strategic Mainland-Hong Kong-ASEAN tripartite partnership to facilitate Belt and Road project deals

  • Organise tripartite roundtable meetings at the Belt and Road Summit to connect Mainland investors, ASEAN project owners and Hong Kong service providers supplemented by post-event webinars and workshops

  • Deepen engagement with State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) and National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), and key multipliers such as All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (全國工商聯) to facilitate closer cooperation with Hong Kong service providers

  • Expand the service providers database on the Belt and Road Portal to cover new sectors of interest to Mainland enterprises

  • Explore forming strategic partnerships with ASEAN banks

  • Stage the inaugural Asia Summit on Global Health to lay the groundwork in building Hong Kong into a global deal maker in the healthcare sector

  • Expand the scope of AFF Deal Flow Matchmaking Session with new elements such as staging customised reverse pitching campaigns at the event

  • Promote year-round communication with AFF Deal Flow participants to facilitate continuation of their onsite dialogues and to help identify new opportunities and partners that meet their evolving needs
