Famous Pacific Shipping opens Beijing office

As part of its ongoing expansion in China, Asian-based NVOCC and freight services provider, Famous Pacific Shipping Group, has opened an office in Beijing.

Initially the office will operate as a satellite of the FPS hub in Tianjin and will be used primarily for sales and marketing liaison with FPS customers in Beijing. It will also work to expand that customer base.

"Expanding operations in China is one of the Famous Pacific Shipping Group's key development objectives," said Benny Ling, chairman of the FPS Executive Committee and the director responsible for China. "Opening an office in Beijing is a natural step in line with this plan."

"We already have a sizeable network in China with 13 offices and some 400 staff. Over the next year we are looking to increase this by at least 50%," added Ling. "We are now offering a full range of sea and airfreight services from a number of key ports in China. In addition, FPS has NVOCC licences in Tianjin and Dalian.

"For the future, apart from expanding our office network, we are reviewing how we should develop our product range and delivery in terms of meeting our customer needs," he added. "China is a fast developing market. We need to develop our network and services taking into consideration such factors as China's membership of the WTO, and the government's intention to develop major centres along the River Yangtze and western China."
