U-Freight expands in Vietnam with new partner

In developing its business in Vietnam, U-Freight is working with and additional partner to strength its local presence. The partner is Tienphong, one of Vietnam's leading freight forwarding companies established in 1993 to provide freight forwarding services to Vietnam's fast expanding community of export and import companies.

Tienphong is a member of both FIATA and the Vietnam Freight Forwarders Association. With offices in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Haiphong and its own logistics and distribution terminals, Tienhpong provides national coverage including the main ports and airports.

The company has developed a competitive range of services which includes air and sea freight forwarding, consolidation and distribution, storage and warehousing, customs brokering, NVOCC, shipbroking and stevedoring, and the door-to-door delivery.

"Working with Tienphong as an additional partner within the U-Freight international network allows us to expand our existing activities in Vietnam and broaden the scope of them, "said Anthony Fong, managing director of U-Freight.

"We see Vietnam as a developing market where many international companies are establishing manufacturing and assembly plants to take advantage of the skilled labour force and competitive cost base," added Fong. "These companies need high quality global forwarding and logistics services and through our partnership with Tienphong we think we will be well placed to service this need."

Meanwhile, Alpha-Trans, the German partner of U-Freight, has expanded its network with the opening of a new office in Hamburg. The office will be managed by Peter Hirschfeld, who worked previously for ocean carriers NYK and Cosco for ten years. Initially, Alpha-Trans Hamburg office will concentrate on maintaining the growth in ocean freight and logistics activities, as well as airfreight. The new location comprises a 2,000 sq.ft. office development with a 11,000 sq.ft. dedicated warehouse, located at Alpha-Trans GmbH & Co KG, Peutestrasse 22, D-20539 Hamburg, Germany.
