Indian Government has announced on Jan 23, 2009 to ban
import of toys from China for six months immediately
until further notice. This restriction was issued in
hurry without official reason. According to the media
reports, the ban was imposed following government's
concern over the safety standards of Chinese-made products
and may be in response to the deluge of imported Chinese
toys laced with high levels of lead in 2007.
This is the other trade restriction imposed by Indian
government after the ban on the import of milk and milk
products from China.
