2008 Rectification on Baby/Children's
Products In China
For the sake of consumers' right and
interest, AQSIQ and some provincial Bureaus of Quality and Technical Supervision
/ Administration of Industry and Commerce launched a round of rectification
on baby/children's products manufactured, sold in the domestic market
to welcome the advent of the Children's Day. The key checked items on
apparels are pH value, banned Azo dyestuffs, colourfastness properties
included in safety regulations and labeling.
Official bulletins issued from most
locations indicate the overall quality of children's apparels is worrisome.
The non-compliance reflected in this rectification focus on fiber content,
colourfastness properties, pH value, formaldehyde and label. Of these,
the failure on labels is very severe.
The concerned authorities are commanded
to strictly tackle the failed products together with involved companies
in accordance with product quality law or other stipulations and set up
deadline for any corrective action. Meantime, the list of both good products/company
and failed products/company involved were released to the public to guide
consumers for better selection.
