The 2025 Meeting of Hong Kong-Europe Business Council (HKEBC) was held in hybrid format on 16 September 2025. The meeting was co-chaired by Mr Hans Michael Jebsen, Chairman of Jebsen Group, and Dr Axel P. Lehmann, Executive in Residence, International Institute for Management Development (IMD); Affiliate Professor, University of St Gallen (HSG); Former Chairman of the Board of Directors, Credit Suisse Group AG. 16 Hong Kong delegates and 15 European delegates attended the meeting. Of these, 13 delegates joined in person at the HKTDC Hong Kong office and 18 joined virtually from other locations. The meeting covered a wide range of topics, such as Hong Kong and European economic outlooks, latest government initiatives in promoting business opportunities, sustainability-related investment drive in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), and collaboration prospects between Hong Kong and Europe. The Hon Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the HKSAR Government of the People’s Republic of China, and Professor Arturo Bris, Douglas Geertz IMEDE 1988 Professor in Geopolitics and Business, Professor of Finance, and Director of the IMD World Competitiveness Center, delivered keynote remarks and engaged with delegates during the Q&A session of the meeting. Both sides appreciated the opportunity to exchange updates on the latest developments in Hong Kong and Europe and found the dialogue fruitful, laying the groundwork for more extensive discussions on future collaboration. After the meeting, a networking dinner was held on the same day for 13 Hong Kong members, including Mr Hans Michael Jebsen (Hong Kong Chairman, HKEBC), Mr Victor Chu (Hong Kong Chairman Emeritus, HKEBC), and Ms Margaret Fong (Executive Director, HKTDC). The dinner provided an opportunity for existing members to welcome new members and foster meaningful connections.
