Co-chaired by Mr Victor Chu, Chairman of First Eastern Investment Group and Dr Paul Achleitner, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Deutsche Bank AG, the 19th Plenary session of Hong Kong-Europe Business Council took place in Berlin, Germany on 13 May 2019.

10 Europe and 16 Hong Kong members including HKTDC Executive Director attended. During the plenary meeting, Mr Joschka Fischer, Former Vice Chancellor and Foreign Minister of Germany presented his views on Europe’s economic outlook. Members also shared their insights on various agenda topics covering the economic outlooks of Mainland China and Hong Kong, Brexit opportunities for foreign investors in Europe, latest development of EU-China economic relations, opportunities for Hong Kong and European businesses in the Greater Bay Area, potential partnerships in technology, lifestyle and culture, as well as liberalisation of Mainland China’s financial market and the implication of the new foreign investment law.

At the Plenary dinner, Mr Thomas Andrae, Founder and Managing Director of Linden Capital delivered an insightful presentation on “The Future of Mobility”. The programme also included a luncheon hosted by ETO Berlin and attended by Ms Shirley Lam, Special Representative for HKETO to the European Union as well as cultural visits to Reichstag, Pergamon Panorama and KPM-Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur.
