HONG KONG PAVILION AT CANNES

Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) will again organise the Hong Kong Pavilion at the upcoming Marché du Film from 8-17 May 2018, concurrently with the 71th edition of Festival de Cannes. Marché du Film is an important international film market for the Hong Kong film and entertainment industry players to exhibit their outstanding projects.

Hong Kong will have its own business centre set up at the International Village from 8-19 May 2018. Free communication tools and meeting areas will be available for participants from Hong Kong & their accompanied overseas guests and Hong Kong – Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) filmmakers.

The 16th Hong Kong - Asia Film Financing Forum Came to Dazzling Close

The 16 th Hong Kong - Asia Film Financing Forum has come to dazzling close on March 21. Over the three-day period, HAF attracted leading film financiers, producers, distributors and buyers across the world, connecting them with talented filmmakers through business meetings, in addition to pitching sessions and networking events.

This year’s line-up comprised 25 HAF projects chosen from over 360 submissions, together with 10 projects which are nearing completion, shortlisted from over 140 submissions for the Work-in-Progress Lab (WIP Lab) program. The WIP Lab aims to facilitate projects in the later stage of production to secure post-production funds, sales agents or film festival support.

HAF presented a total of 11 awards amounting to over HK$1,400,000 (US$180,000) during the awards presentation ceremony, 4 WIP Lab projects shortlisted for the “HAF Goes to Cannes” program - a collaboration with Marché du Film, Festival de Cannes were also announced. We congratulate all the award recipients for their remarkable achievement, and here are the awards results:

•HAF Award (Hong Kong Project) :Love in the Valley of Daughters by YUEN Han-yan (Hong Kong)
•HAF Award (Non-Hong Kong Project): Saving One Who was Dead By Václav KADRNKA (Czech Republic)
•mm2 Award: Still Human by Oliver CHAN Siu-kuen (Hong Kong)
•Wanda WIP Lab Award: From Black and White to Shades of Grey by HUANG Zi (China)
•Wouter Barendrecht Award: Let Me Rest in Peace by YAMANAKA Yoko (Japan)
•Network of Asian Fantastic Films Award: IMAH by Eddie CAHYONO (Indonesia , France)
•Wutianming Post-Production Award: Stonewalling by HUANG Ji (China)
•White Light Post-Production Award (HAF Project): Vengeance is Mine, All Others Pay Cash by Edwin (Indonesia)
•White Light Post-Production Award (WIP Lab Project): Mosaic Portrait by ZHAI Yixiang (China)
•G2D Post-Production Award (HAF Project): The Big Picture by E J-yong (South Korea)
•G2D Post-Production Award(WIP Lab Project): AGANAI - The Atonement by SAKAHARA Atsushi (Japan)

The screening of “HAF Goes to Cannes” program will be held at Palais K at 4-6pm on 12 May. Welcome to join and get to know more about the projects!
