Hong Kong is no minnow in China's trade "take"

Even before Hong Kong was ceded to Britain in 1842, the territory had been a gateway to China. In the fourth century, Tuen Mun was the first port of call for traders crossing the South China Sea into Guangzhou. However, after thriving in the Tang and Song dynasties under China's liberal "open door" policies, Hong Kong declined in the Yuan, Ming and Ching dynasties when China turned inward.........
