| Creativity on display:
Design Gallery is perhaps the best show window for Hong Kong designers.
Alan Yip, Eddie Hui, May Wong, Prudence Mak, Dennis Chan, Hans Chong and
Winnif Pang are among the first batch of local designers showcasing their
innovations. |
A Designers' Corner is created by the Trade Development Council (TDC) inside the
newly renovated Design Gallery. This show window of local innovations will not
only help designers to export their creative works, but also launch their works
to test market response.
Eight renowned Hong Kong designers, including Alan Chan, Alan Yip, Dennis Chan,
Florence Wong, Ozoona Lam, Alice Mak, Winnif Pang and Eddie Hui, are among the
first batch of designers who showcase their innovations at the Gallery.
Uniquely and conveniently located at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre,
Design Gallery attracts over 150,000 overseas buyers every year attending TDC's
local trade fairs staged at the Centre.
TDC's Deputy Executive Director Mr. Frederick Lam said: "The Gallery attracts
the largest crowd of overseas merchandisers passing by. It is perhaps the best
show window for Hong Kong's innovations and designs."
The Design Gallery provides a comprehensive trade enquiry service which facilitates
interested buyers to gain access to product suppliers and designers. Taking pride
as a successful matchmaker, the Gallery generates thousands of enquiries each
year, brings business opportunities to both Hong Kong companies and overseas buyers.
Mr. Lam said: "Design Gallery's trade matching service does not stop outside the
shop. Interested buyers can continue to search innovated products on the Gallery's
web site." Trade enquiries processed through the Gallery's web site increased
by 63% since it was launched in last September.
In the past 12 years, Design Gallery provides services to over 5,000 Hong Kong
designers to show case and market their products to overseas buyers.
Not only is the Design Gallery an exceptional showcase to market local designed
products, it is also a useful retail venue to test new innovations, and a perfect
launching pad to build brand awareness among an international clientele.
Mr. Lam said: "Designers may not be able to start up with their own retail outlets,
Design Gallery fits in as a desired testing platform on consignment basis. Products
on display will be able to attract corporate merchandisers who need to source
unique gifts and souvenirs with company logos for their customers or clients."
Converging a kaleidoscope of Hong Kong products in exquisite design and distinctive
quality all under one roof, the Gallery is also offering a comprehensive Wedding
Gift Sourcing Service, which brings distinctive designs, exquisite quality - in
sophisticated variations beyond clients' imagination.
Established in 1991, Design Gallery showcases the newest and best products of
Hong Kong designers and brand manufacturers. The Gallery's profusion of products
span consumer electronics, consumer appliances, watches and clocks, desktop stationary,
jewellery and fashion accessories. Over 3,000 types of products are on display
at the Gallery currently, and over 80% of them are new arrivals.
