HONG KONG DAY AT AFM 2011
STRENGHTENS HONG KONG-US COLLABORATION
Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) in collaboration with the American Film Market (AFM), which ran from 2 to 9 November 2011 in Santa Monica, the Hong Kong Day promotion at AFM took place again on 3 November featuring a ceremonial ribbon cutting at the Loews Hotel entrance, a seminar about the advantages of co-producing film projects in Hong Kong, the screening of Hong Kong movies and a cocktail reception.
Attracting more than 100 industry professionals, the Hong Kong Day seminar, "Hong Kong: Asia's Co-production Centre and Gateway to the China Market", was moderated by Mr Patrick Frater, CEO of Film Business Asia. Speakers included Mr Zhou Tiedong, President, China Film Promotion International, Inc; Ms Yvonne Chuang, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Tomson International Entertainment Distribution Ltd; Ms Wei Han, President and Producer, Bliss Media Limited.
Rounding out the Hong Kong Day events and activities, Mr. Louis Ho, Regional Director, Americas, HKTDC delivered a welcome remark and did a toasting on stage at the Hong Kong reception with over 200 guests attended which included representatives of Hong Kong Film and Distribution companies and industry players from all over the world.
Successful Cocktail Reception at TIFFCOM 2011
Jointly organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and UNIJAPAN, the "Hong Kong Cinema @ TIFF" cocktail reception was successfully held on 24 October 2011 in Japan during TIFFCOM's fair period.
The aim of the event was to promote co-production and co-venture opportunities between Japan and Hong Kong. It was kicked off with opening remarks by Mr. Jack So, Chairman of HKTDC, and garnished with a toasting ceremony hosted by Mr. Tom Yoda, Chairman of Tokyo International Film Festival. Around 150 guests attended the cocktail reception.
