Leading Hong Kong filmmakers has featured their latest cinematic projects at Marché du Film, which opened from 13 to 24 May as part of the concurrent 68th Festival de Cannes (Cannes Film Festival).

This year, the Hong Kong Pavilion included four Hong Kong exhibitors organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), namely, All Rights Entertainment Ltd, China 3D Digital Distribution Company Limited, Edko Films Ltd and Fortune Star Media Ltd. Another 10 Hong Kong companies also showcased their latest productions and seek business and partnership opportunities at individual stands or offices at Marché du Film.

Once again, Hong Kong had its own business support centre at the International Village, and the networking session "Dim Sum Hours" continued to be well received by the market participants. Such value-adding business exchange opportunities facilitated networking among Hong Kong and International industry players.

HAF 2015 Concluded with Success

Two HAF Projects Cemetery of Splendour and Fourth Direction at Cannes

The 13th Hong Kong - Asia Film Financing Forum came to the end with the 13th HAF Awards Presentation Ceremony held at the HKCEC on 25 March 2015. Over the three-day forum, many have been impressed by the energy of Asian filmmaking talents and their great potential for growth. HAF would like to extend the warmest gratitude to the honorable guests, HAF sponsors, supporters and partners, HAF participants and media friends.

HAF 2016 will be held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre during 14-16 March 2016. HAF Project Submissions will open in August 2015.

Two HAF Projects at Cannes

Apichatpong WEERASETHAKUL’s HAF 2013 project Cemetery of Splendour (previously known as Cemetery of Kings) and Gurvinder SINGH’s HAF 2012 project Fourth Direction are selected in the Un Certain Regard section at the 68th Cannes Film Festival.

Thai director Apichatpong WEERASETHAKUL, winner of Palme d'Or in 2010, returns with his latest feature film Cemetery of Splendour. The film tells the story of a lonesome middle-age housewife who tends a soldier with sleeping sickness and falls into a hallucination triggering strange dreams, phantoms, and romance.

Indian director Gurvinder SINGH’s second feature Fourth Direction is adapted from two short stories by Punjabi writer Waryam Singh SANDHU. The film is set in Punjab, India during the Sikh separatist movement in the 1980s.
