FILMART 2012 CLOSED WITH
A RECORD-BREAKING SUCCESS
Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) has grown bigger and better over the years and became Asia's major entertainment industry market, one of the top three major industry events of its kind in the world. Its latest edition has proven to be a record-breaking success, well reflected in its numbers of exhibitors and visitors.
Over 640 exhibitors from more than 30 countries and regions, together with over 5,700 visitors from 53 countries and regions attended FILMART this year.
Besides, the scale of FILMART this year increased by 10%, many international renowned industry players participated in this year's event once again. The size of the national and regional pavilions had also generally expanded which include Chinese mainland, France, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States and Vietnam. For the first time, FILMART featured exhibitor pavilions from Hungary, Mexico and Turkey, the Hangzhou government had also sent a delegation to exhibit for the first time as well.
The next edition of FILMART will be held on 18-21 March 2013.
HONG KONG PAVILION AT CANNES 2012
Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) will again organise the Hong Kong Pavilion at the upcoming Marché du Film from 16-25 May 2012, concurrently with the 65th edition of Festival de Cannes. Marché du Film is an important international film market for the Hong Kong film and entertainment industry players to exhibit their outstanding projects. 11 Hong Kong companies will participate this year and showcase their latest film projects at the event.
Hong Kong will have its own business support centre set-up at the International Village. Free communication tools, meeting areas and simple beverages will be available for participants from Hong Kong, accompanied overseas guests and Hong Kong – Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) filmmakers.
10th HAF closes with record number of awards
The 10th Hong Kong - Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) came to a glamorous end on 21 March, as the filmmakers of 32 selected projects met with world-renowned actress Charlotte Rampling and HAF alumnus Peter Chan Ho-sun (also 36th HKIFF Filmmaker in Focus) at the Awards Presentation Ceremony and 10th Anniversary Celebration Party. A total of 9 awards were given out, the greatest number in the forum's history.

The 10th HAF drew near 1,200 registered guests from around 40 countries and regions, a 15% increase from last year. Attending industry professionals hailed from China, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, France, Canada and the USA among other places, while 663 private business meetings and press interviews were held between filmmakers, financiers and media representatives. The total number of appointments rose 9%, with each project having around 21 meetings on average over the 3-day event.
