HONG KONG PAVILION AT CANNES 2011
Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) will again organise the Hong Kong Pavilion at the upcoming Marché du Film from 11-20 May 2011, concurrently with the 64th edition of Festival de Cannes. Marché du Film is an important international film market for the Hong Kong film and entertainment industry players to exhibit their outstanding projects. Six Hong Kong companies will participate this year and showcase their latest film projects at the event.
Hong Kong will have its own business support centre set-up at the International Village. Free communication tools, meeting areas and simple beverages will be available for participants from Hong Kong, accompanied overseas guests and Hong Kong – Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) filmmakers..
NEW RECORDS TO CELEBRATE
FILMART has grown bigger and better over the years and became one of the top three major industry events of its kind in the world. Its latest edition has proven to be a record-breaking success, well reflected in its numbers of exhibitors and visitors.
THE 15TH ANNIVERSARY OF FILMART
Nearly 600 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions, together with over 5,000 visitors from 54 countries and regions attended FILMART this year.
Besides, pavilions from Chinese Mainland (TV), Japan and Korea had been enlarged, plus some new exhibiting countries from Cambodia, Iceland, Turkey and UAE. There were also a pan-European pavilion represented by the European Film Promotion and a joint pavilion by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg GMBH and Roma & Lazio Film Commission.
The next edition of FILMART will be held on 19-22 March 2012.
ENTERTAINMENT EXPO 2011
The latest edition of Entertainment Expo Hong Kong (EEXPO) was kicked off with an opening ceremony attended by entertainment industry players, celebrities and journalists from around the world. Held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) on 21 March 2011, the ceremony was honoured to have Mr Donald Tsang, the Chief Executive of HKSAR Government, giving an inspiring speech.

Honourable guests joining Mr Tsang at the opening ceremony were Ms Ma Li, Director-General of International Cooperation Department, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office, The State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT), Mr Jack So, Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Hong Kong Film Development Council, and Mr Tony Leung, Hong Kong Entertainment Ambassador.
MORE GUESTS AT HAF AS OUTSTANDING PROJECTS SHINE
The 9th Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) has had its productive and successful events during FILMART from 21 to 23 March 2011. Thank you for all the participants joining us this year.
The following winners were announced at the 9th HAF Awards Presentation Ceremony held at the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Centre on 23 March 2011.
This year, the HAF has continued to be proven as Asia's most effective project market in film financing with over 1,000 registered guests from 36 regions/countries, a 17% increase from last year. Hong Kong, China, Japan, South Korea and United States are the top countries with the most number of representatives at HAF. With 12% increase over the past year, a total of 610 private business meetings and individual media interviews were organised between financiers, media and filmmakers of the 28 selected film projects.
