Annual Plan 2005/06

Introduction

Small and medium-sized enterprises are key drivers of global trade growth and the core customers of the Trade Development Council. The theme of our Annual Plan for 2005/06 is "Connecting the World's SMEs".

We have adopted a medium-term approach to strategic planning. Overall objectives will remain unchanged for at least three years, as will the performance measurements used to evaluate our progress towards them.

In a dynamic operating environment, our strategies and programmes will be reviewed annually against evolving circumstances.

Medium-Term Objectives and Performance Measurements

Over the three years from 2005/06 to 2007/08, we aim to:

Increase Hong Kong's lead as the region's premier trade and sourcing platform by drawing in more overseas and mainland SMEs
Stimulate demand for Hong Kong's goods and services in the Chinese mainland and priority emerging markets
Engage community support for the development of Hong Kong's external trade and maximise TDC's value to SMEs through enhanced services and strategic deployment of resources

The activities that we will introduce to achieve these objectives will add to, or build on, our existing programme of work around the world.
