Introduction
Small and medium-sized enterprises are key drivers of global trade growth and the core customers of the Trade Development Council. The theme of our Annual Plan for 2005/06 is "Connecting the World's SMEs".
We have adopted a medium-term approach to strategic planning. Overall objectives will remain unchanged for at least three years, as will the performance measurements used to evaluate our progress towards them.
In a dynamic operating environment, our strategies and programmes will be reviewed annually against evolving circumstances.
Medium-Term Objectives and Performance Measurements
Over the three years from 2005/06 to 2007/08, we aim to:
Increase Hong Kong's lead as the region's premier trade and sourcing platform by drawing in more overseas and mainland SMEs |
Stimulate demand for Hong Kong's goods and services in the Chinese mainland and priority emerging markets |
Engage community support for the development of Hong Kong's external trade and maximise TDC's value to SMEs through enhanced services and strategic deployment of resources |
The activities that we will introduce to achieve these objectives will add to, or build on, our existing programme of work around the world.
