HKTDC will help Hong Kong companies to take advantage of the fast changing global business environment and to market effectively Hong Kong’s role in the reshaped global economy. In developed markets, we will convey a clear message that Hong Kong is not just a sourcing centre but also a place to develop and market new products to influence consumer trends in the region and to manage regional business and supply chains. We will communicate a better understanding of the way in which Hong Kong’s transformation from a manufacturing economy has enriched its service industries. We will articulate the way Hong Kong’s strengths in financing, insurance, logistics, design, marketing and innovation draw on a rich tradition of its manufacturing, sourcing and marketing businesses.
In Chinese mainland, we will communicate a broader understanding of the practical benefits of using Hong Kong’s services as a means of tapping into the global economy whether simply through sourcing consumer products at our international trade fairs or through our business matching to leverage Hong Kong’s global connections and professional services. By bringing more Hong Kong businessmen to mainland audiences, we will promote a deeper appreciation of the many ways in which Hong Kong’s professionalism, connectivity and sophistication can be leveraged by fellow Chinese entrepreneurs to open up new business opportunities in the region and beyond.
HKTDC will further integrate our trade shows, online sourcing platform (hktdc.com) and print publications to give a unique, powerful, combined service to buyers and sellers. We will also help Hong Kong companies enhance their competitiveness in areas such as design, product development, marketing, distribution and branding. At the same time, we will research and analyse possibilities and articulate emerging trends to help Hong Kong businesses position themselves to make the best of future growth opportunities.
HKTDC takes a three-year approach in planning its work. This Annual Plan is the first in a new three-year planning cycle, a blueprint that will take HKTDC to 2014.
Medium-term Objectives
Over the three years from 2011/12 to 2013/14, we aim to:
| 1. |
Help Hong Kong companies maximise opportunities created by the reshaping of the global economy |
| |
|
| 2. |
Champion Hong Kong’s role as Asia’s Central Business District for the global economy
|
| |
|
| 3. |
Sharpen HKTDC’s capabilities to serve and nurture a new breed of SMEs
|
The above objectives will remain unchanged for three years and a set of measurements has been identified to enable us to evaluate our success in achieving these goals.
