Jiangxi to House Singapore Food and Drug Park

To be located in the Jian New and High-Technology Development Zone in Jiangxi, the Singapore food and drug technology park is jointly invested by the Sinomem Technology Group of Singapore, Nanchang University and the Jiangxi provincial nuclear industry and geological bureau, and represents a major high-tech R&D project launched in Jian in 2004. Sinomem is a leading player in the pharmaceuticals and chemicals sectors of Singapore with a competitive edge in technology boasting excellent business results.

Billed at Rmb2 billion in total investment and occupying a land area of 1,200 mu, the park will involve an initial investment of Rmb500 million and primarily house biological and pharmaceuticals industries. It aims to transform the traditional agricultural and food related resources in the province to high-tech health care and pharmaceutical products.

The park is going to introduce cutting-edge technologies by international standards and develop into a leading production base of gibberellic acid in the world and a major bio-engineering fermentation base in China by competing with the world's leading high-tech players in the field. As agricultural and sideline produce will be drawn as raw materials, the development of the park will help promote the restructuring of Jiangxi's agricultural sector and speed up its agricultural commercialisation process.

The abundant supply of Chinese medicine resources in Jiangxi provides strong support for the development of Chinese medicine, patent medicine and health care industries in Jiangxi. Hong Kong industry players interested in the mainland market should watch out for the latest development of Jiangxi.
